The Orion SkyLine Deluxe GLP-to-Telescope Bracket allows you to use your SkyLine Green Laser Pointer as a finder scope. The Laser beam shows exactly where your telescope is aimed making pointing any telescope easy. SkyLine GLP sold separately.
Even though I bought an intelliscope, I have been trying to learn the sky and locate objects with just my finder scope. The laser bracket helps me greatly. I first coarse align with the laser and then fine align with the finder scope and almost always I can find the object I am looking for in the eyepiece. This really speeds up the process of pointing the telescope and makes the evening of star gazing more about finding than floundering.
Slightly higher power than the 32mm, the 26mm Orion Q70 Wide-Field Eyepiece still gives you the super-wide 70-deg field of view, great for a new perspective on your favorite objects. The multi-coated lenses provide clear, high contrast images.
This eyepiece is a crowd pleaser. I love hearing the comments when people view objects through my scope with the Q70 in place. I'd like to also get the 38mm ep.
The SkyLine Deluxe green laser pointer with bracket precisely aims your telescope. Just mount it to your telescope and use it instead of a finder scope. The laser beam shows exactly where your telescope is aimed, without needing another finder.
I was expecting this to be a metal part, but after I received it I see it is clearly described as ABS plastic. I read another reviewers comments about the metal ring that is included to keep the laser on. I do not see the need. In fact, I only turn the laser on momentarily as I move my scope into position. Overall I am happy with the mount,
The XT12i is for the more advanced viewer. It provides brighter and clearer images than the XT10i, allowing you to view fainter celestial objects. As with the XT10i, the object locater allows you to view more than 14,000 celestial objects with ease.
I purchased the XT12i after carefully examining all the Orion products. Since I live near Cupertino, I liked the idea of actually being able to step into a brick and mortar location, and not just deal over the Internet. The mount was easy to build, but required adding some spacers under the brass bushing. The OTA is not as heavy as I expected after all the comments about it, but it is awkward to carry. I chose the XT12i because it was as large a scope as I figured I could handle without going up into a truss system.
