 Orion HighLight 2" 3x 5-Element Barlow Lens
Orion HighLight 2" 3x 5-Element Barlow Lens
The 2" 3x Orion HighLight 5-Element Barlow Lens is ideal for high-power lunar and planetary viewing as well as for solar system astrophotography with a webcam. The 5-Element design gives you flatter and sharper images than standard barlows can.

This Orion 2inch 3x barlow is absolutely fantastic. The imagines are crisp and don't lose any light or edge sharpness. I did a comparison using my Explore Scientific 100 degree eyepieces to do a side by side comparison with my 2 inch 2x ED barlow. I used combinations to have as close as possible magnifications in each instance. Hands down, the Orion Highlight barlow was much, much better in clarity and light through put. Optically awesome.
It is well made with one exception...the blackening inside the barrel fell short of blackening all the way up . I think they may have thought the barrel of the eyepiece would cover the omitted edges. I finished it myself. Other than that, I could find no other faults.
I see it is no-longer available, and that is a real shame because it is so nice.
Yes, I recommend this product!

The Orion Lights Out Observing Canopy is great for blocking out distracting light while you are viewing through your telescope. It makes viewing objects appear brighter, with greater detail and better contrast.

The observing canopy is made of high quality fabric, and blocks all ambient light without being too heavy.

The Orion 2" Precision Centering Adapter precisely centers a collimating device, camera nosepiece, or eyepiece unlike a standard adapter which pushes it off center. Ideal for accurate reflector collimation with a laser or cheshire collimating device.

I already own the 1 1/4 precision centering adapter, and used it for every 1 1/4 accessory. I often wished I had the same great adapter design for my 2" accessories, so when I saw Orion offer up this new 2" precision centering adapter...I jumped on it!
I have attached my 2x barlow lens to the bottom of it, so I now have a precision centered barlow for my 2", and I have 1 1/4 precision adapter that fits perfectly, so I have a nicely centered set-up now. It just makes so much sense after taking great care and using a Hotech self centering laser to collimate my newtonian, that I should make sure the eyepieces are centered as well.
I observed with it last night, and it was so easy to use, and held my eyepieces securely, and I think it helped keep my view sharper. With an f4.6 Newtonian Dob. like mine, collimation is critical to be able to focus sharply & clearly. With these two precision centering devices I have my light path as straight as I can.
Now if I could only get Orion to come up with a precision centering device for the primary focuser ring, I'd be all set. Are you listening Orion? A nice treaded ring that is precision centering to replace the primary focuser ring on my SkyQuest xx14i Intelliscope. Then I could eliminate all set screws! You probably already have one in the works...it seems you know what we want.
Yes, I recommend this product!
