Safely see your gear in the dark! Three lengths of flexible red electroluminescent wire wrap around telescope tripod legs so you won't stub your toes or bump into your telescope. A control box adjusts brightness and more. Fits any telescope tripod.

This product is a must for a tripod user that has goto object control or is careful about polar alignment (especially equatorial mounts). The dimming control adjusts to very low light, and is not blinding in the least for dark skies. Flashing is controllable. It is annoying at the highest settings for both. The rope design lets you see the outline of the tripod, so you avoid hitting any part of the legs of the tripod. This is a better way to go than flashing LEDS or glow in the dark tape. It is also fun for star parties and helps the kids see the legs. I am a little concerned about the long term durability of the cable, so I will file a long term report later. The battery cover required careful alignment to seal properly. There is no manual, so read the back of the packaging. But overall, a really great new product.
Favorite viewing location: Boulder, Colorado
Favorite object to observe: Planets
Pros: fully dimmable to dark sky conditions, external power source, fully adjustable flashing, a must for tripod goto, a great astro gadget
Cons: long-term cable durability?, hard to seal battery cover, no manual read the packaging
Yes, I recommend this product!

The optical quality of the finder scope is excellent. An illuminated finder scope is the best way to go to line up goto scopes on objects. You can dim the LED low enough to use for most conditions. It is also bright enough for daytime alignment. The problem is that it way to easy to leave on and drain the batteries. The light source doesn't screw in tight enough to prevent movement and thereby it easy not to click off the LED switch. The watch/electronic battery* (GP189) is not standard from most stores, and must be ordered on line from suppliers like Amazon.com, where the shipping cost is more than the cost of the batteries. Other than these minor issues with LED light source, it is a great accessory for any scope.

Pros: excellent optics, dimmable led, great rectile for centering
Cons: battery non-standard, light source turns too easily

This is the best value and coated field map for outside use. It makes a great gift for young and old. Remember that at star parties the most requested object is the moon. Get this map to answer all of the questions.

This solar filter fits the Orion StarMax, Apex 90, and Meade ETX-90. The 4.10" Orion Full Aperture Solar Filter is a must for safely viewing or photographing the sun's surface. Provides more contrast and more natural color than Mylar filters.
