With Light Pollution increasingly on the rise in Aggieland, I was looking for suitable narrowband filters for CCD imaging. I almost bought a well-known expensive set, when I stumbled across this set. The price was far lower and so I had TNR order me a set. I've been extremely impressed with the performance from these. Goodbye, Light pollution...hello, narrowband imaging. The image quality is very nice, these are fully UV-IR blocking, so a separate UV-IR cut filter isn't required, and they appear to be well polished and free of optical defects. Narrowband images taken with these filters really shine. Any negatives? Well, not really a negative...but, these filters although advertised as such aren't *exactly* parfocal. Slight re-focusing is necessary when switching filters to maintain sharp images. As a specific example, with my TMB 130/780 and the ATIK 16HR, the H-alpha on a night of average seeing will provide an FWHM of approximately 0.8-1.2. When the filter is switched (using a CFW) to the O-III, the FWHM increases to about 3.2 - 4.5. A slight touch of the focus wheel and the FWHM is brought down to about 0.8-1.2. The OIII and SII filters appear to be much closer to being parfocal (but again not exactly), but the point of best focus for the H-Alpha filter is slightly different. Other than this, these filters are an excellent value and I would highly recommend these to anyone wanting a narrowband imaging filter set.

If you're looking for a heavy duty GoTo mount for all your observing or astrophotography needs, the Orion Atlas EQ-G computerized GoTo telescope mount is perfect. It supports up to 40lbs and finds over 42,900 celestial objects with pushbutton ease.

I was pleasantly surprised with this mount. It easily carries my TMB 130/780 Apo, my Tak FS-60C apo, imaging paraphernalia (CCD cameras, filter wheels etc.) without breaking a sweat. I measured the mount's "out-of-the-box" Periodic error using K3CCDTools and PEAS reported an average PE of +-8 arc.sec, over four worm cycles. This is astounding for a mass produced scope. The PE curve itself is very smooth and is easily guided out. I routinely take 10 - 20 minutes long narrowband images now, something which was extremely difficult with my old AS-GT. I also highly recommend EQMOD for this mount as it greatly increases what you can do with it. If you're looking for a medium duty mount which can do it all, look no further. For the price, you won't find a better performer. Heck, even at twice the price, you will be hard pressed to find a better performer.

The 1.25" Orion LRGB Astrophotography Filter Set contains 4 must haves for beautiful astrophotos: Red, Blue, Green, and Luminance IR cutoff , all in a protective case. The filters are parfocal which eliminates the task of refocusing between exposure.

This LRGB imaging filter set is excellent for the price. I've taken transmission spectra of the filters with a research grade spectrophotometer and the published spectra are identical to what I obtained. One caveat, these aren't *exactly* parfocal. A slight amount of refocusing is required when switching between them. These work well with both my DSI Pro and my ATIK 16HR. Color balance is a bit skewed towards green and I had to play around with color weights to get natural color. Overall however, you can't find a better set for the price. These are no doubt two steps up from the Meade LRGB filter set for not a whole lot more. Buy them. You'll be glad you did.
