The SkyLine Deluxe green laser pointer with bracket precisely aims your telescope. Just mount it to your telescope and use it instead of a finder scope. The laser beam shows exactly where your telescope is aimed, without needing another finder.
An upgraded version of the ShortTube 80, the 80-A is very portable and is perfect for the beginning astronomer. Wide field of view makes it ideal for deep sky viewing. The refractor optical tube attaches easily to any Orion telescope mount.
I bought this scope mainly for astrophotography and today was my first use. I was able to see crisp images of the moon, rings of saturns, one of the moons of saturn. I bought a solar filter and was able to observe the sun with a high degree of contrast. On top of all this the telescope is highly portable, you could actually take it as cabin baggage in an airplane :)
You do need a proper mount to position the scope. I would not recommend a camera mount since I had difficulty using it. I bought a versago 2 mount which is great for quick assembly and viewing but isn't really meant for tracking objects. With saturn I had to reposition every min or so. I am planning to go with an equatorial mount.
And if you are in the bay area, simply go to the Orion store in Cupertino. You will find some wonderful folks there who are very helpful.
