Got these ring as an upgrade to an existing scope, and they fit the bill just fine and they look good too. The construction , fit and finish are right on par with this price point and quite honestly with these being available there is no reason to spendmore on the high end ones.

The 17mm Orion HighLight Plossl Eyepiece is medium-low powered making it perfect for viewing the moon, planets, and bright deep sky objects. The HighLight Plossl line of eyepieces are fully multi-coated giving you very bright, high contrast images.

I recently picked up the 17mm HighLight Plossl to fill a gap in my EP collection. My collection consists of almost all Plossls and I felt that this one would fill the bill nicely and it did. The images that it provides in Starseeker 80mmf/5 and my Astroview 100mm f/6 are clear, contrasty and pinpoint to the edges. Fast scopes in general are punishing on widefield EP's but these Plossls with their 52 degree AFOV provide a very pleasing TFOV without the edge softness that occurs with fast scopes and other exotic EP's. The Plossl has been the work horse of many an EP kit and Orion has really taken the quality of the HighLight Plossl to the next level. The form fit and finish of these rival those that cost many times more and not only do they perform very well but they look great too. I highly recommend these EP's and plan on buying the entire set in the future.

I have had this scope a little over a month now and it still continues to amaze me. I have been able to see things with it that would otherwise take a larger and more expensive scope to resolve. M1 or the Crab Nebula is a difficult target due to its distance and surface brightness yet I have been able to resolve it each time I have looked at it. Castor, a double star is cleanly split and M42 the Orion Nebula is truly amazing through this scope. In all fairness though I did upgrade the diagonal and my latest observations were done with a 32mm Super Plossl eyepiece, but in general this scope still performed well without these improvements. This scope is destined to be one of the ones that will be remembered for a long time.
