Do you need more height on your Atlas telescope mount? The Orion Atlas Telescope Mount Extension raises the head of the mount 8.4" for easier viewing. It is ideal for refractor use and comes with the connecting plates and hardware.
Yes, it does fit the CGEM mount as well as the Atlas. It does it's intended purpose and has good fit and finish. Be aware that in order to use it, it must be disassembled each and every time used, unless you leave the mount head attached full time to the extension and tripod. Probably OK if you roll it out of the garage on a dolly, but an absolute pain if you travel with it. Seems like it should be supplied with a new, longer center screw that wood attach the lower end to the tripod as well as the upper adapter to the mount. In order to detach the mount, you must unscrew three set screws on either the top or bottom of the extension to remove the upper adapter from the mount base. Would have been so much easier to just supply a longer threaded rod to pass entirely through the extension or to have a cutout on the side of the extension to simply put your hand in to unscrew the extension's top adapter from the mount base. As I have said, good fit and finish, pretty rugged, but they forgot to go the extra step to make it easy to use. Five stars for build quality, but only two stars for execution of a decent design.
