The Orion TrueTrack DC drive system provides dual-axis control for high-power viewing and photography with the SkyView Pro mount. It allows you to choose from 3 different speeds as well as a pause mode as well as sidereal tracking for total control.

True Track Dual Axis Drive

My Dual Axis Drive arrived today well packed in a sturdy box. There were very detailed instructions inside the box. It only took me about 1/2 hour to take off my mounting and install the drives. It was a straight forward procedure though it was easier to install the RA motor if you take off the rear latitude adjustment. Once you get that mastered then the Dec is even easier! On testing the drive I found that I did not tighten the drive motors up enough since the instructions say to be careful. After adjusting the motors by wrenching it down a bit more it seemed to solve the problem. Tighten it enough to prevent the motors from shifting but no tighter. I am also using a 6 volt power supply from an old telephone or toy,(Never get rid of a power supply!). I find that I much prefer this type of drive to the Goto mount. It is easier to set up and does not need any complicated alignments or procedures. Good product with outstanding service.

The Orion SkyView Pro Equatorial Telescope Mount is an affordable heavy duty mount that supports tubes up to 20lbs. With the dual slow-motion knobs you have fine manual control or add an optional clock drive or full Go-To kit for added functionality.

Skyview Pro with 6" Refractor

I am using the Skyview Pro for a Celestron 6" Refractor. Many have said that this mounting is not sturdy enough but I have found that to be untrue. Though it is marginal for deep sky CCD imaging it is more than acceptable for visual work or planetary imaging. With the addition of an electric focuser it should also be good for most any imaging needs. This is a sturdy but portable mount that supplies many happy nights in the hobby!
