The SkyLine Deluxe green laser pointer with bracket precisely aims your telescope. Just mount it to your telescope and use it instead of a finder scope. The laser beam shows exactly where your telescope is aimed, without needing another finder.
I installed the GLP pointer and bracket on a non-Orion refractor. To do this, I first installed a dovetail base. After installation, I placed a bright star in the center of the field of view, turned on the laser, and aligned it in its mount. As a test, I used the laser to find Saturn with a 17mm eyepiece and a Shorty Barlow installed. Saturn's image was in the middle of the field of view! A friend who is a professional astronomer gave it great marks as well! The laser is powerful enough to give a good sight line every time!
The Orion LaserMate Deluxe Telescope Collimator makes aligning your Newtonian's Optics a simple one-step procedure. It is smaller, lighter and less expensive than the previous version.
I was given a 76mm refractor and discovered that the optics were out of alignment. All objects were out of focus. Following the procedures that came with the collimator, I was able to align the secondary and primary mirrors. This yielded crisp, in-focusimages. For telescopes without a center mark, correct positioning of the mirror center mark is essential for good results. Be sure to follow the instructions to prevent gazing at direct reflection of the laser!
