The Orion 4.57 inch solar filter allows you to safely observe or image details on the surface of the sun. The glass filter material is more durable than Mylar and offers a more natural yellow-orange color

I purchased this filter to replace Baader solar Film for use with a 100mm refractor. I like the appearance of the sun better with the Orion filter. It is not as bright and appears in a more pleasing orange color. Resolution is quite good, I have glimpsed granulation a few times when the atmosphere has allowed. Sunspot detail is very good. After 3+ years of sporadic use it shows no sign of deterioration. Still looks and performs like new. A high quality product.

Already have a good mount but want another scope to put on it? Orion's 100mm ED refractor telescope is perfect for the advanced observer or astrophotographer wanting great views at an amazing price. The ED glass provides very low color distortion.

I have owned 15 telescopes including seven refractors. This one is one of the best. I find it good mechanically and very good optically after performing a careful star test. So far I have used up to 225X on the moon and 2 planets with very sharp images and no image breakdown. Color correction is very good for an ED doublet. I rate this scope as four stars when compared to the premium 4" apos and five stars when compared to other ED scopes. A. Irizarry
