The AstroView 6 is a great telescope for the intermediate viewer. The manual slow motion knobs track objects or add an optional EQ3 DC drive to the mount to power the scope electronically. A good size telescope for planetary and deep sky viewing.
Far better than expected. Great bargain!!! I highly recomend Orion products.

I got bit by the astronomy bug early this spring and needless to say, I'm hooked. I started with a second hand meade 114x1000mm, but knew I needed to upgrade as soon as possible. After carefully reseaching my needs and wants I came to the conclusion that Orion talks and makes the most sense. Reading other reviews, watching their how to videos and after desiding on the astroview 6 I went to Orion's product support and read the manual. When my new telescope arrived I was suprised at the size, It was so much larger than my old scope. Centering the polar alignment scope was a bit tedious, but after that useing the telescope is a breeze. I enjoy every minute I get to use it seaching the night sky. The only reason I gave it four stars on machanical quality is I hope Orion comes out with a goto for it in the near future. -Thomas G. Boswell, In.
