Orion 8" f/4.0 Newtonian Astrograph Reflector Telescope
Orion 8" f/4.0 Newtonian Astrograph Reflector Telescope
This telescope is perfect for wide field astrophotography. It provides high quality images, and with the optional coma corrector you can achieve coma free stars at the edges. The 8in. astrograph is a portable high quality telescope at a great price.

Orion 8" Astrograph -- Surprise

I'm usually a refractor man but I wanted a fast scope with aperture to work with my DSLR. I purchased the Orion 8" Astograph hoping to fill this requirement. The scope arrived well packed and the quality was quite good. The only downside was I hadn't aligned a reflector in some years and it took a little bit of effort, but finally success! I also fought the local weather with it being uncommonly windy for the past month. Finally I took out the scope on a clear night with little or no wind. I mounted it on my Losmandy G-11 and went to work. I took images of M22 and M7. The results were outstanding. The image of M22 rivaled images taken with some APO refractors. The best photos were obtained with 30 sec. exposures @ ISO 800 with a Pentax 110D and a Baeder coma corrector. The scope exceeded my expectations. Can't wait to shoot some more deep sky.
